Keene Ranch Community Amenities

Keene Ranch has over 15 miles of trails running through the neighborhood on its private trail system.  Trails are used for hiking and for horseback riding.  Trails are identified as Butte, Magpie, Sunset, Bobcat, Pasco, Spruce, Bridle, Coyote, Jazz, Clyde, Raven, Hawk, Deer, Fox, Owl, Bear, Trace, Bear, Bison, and Elk.

The 1500-acre Dawson Butte Open Space runs along the west side of Keene Ranch.  Douglas County Conservancy, Douglas County, and a private conservation easement ensure the serene surroundings are never developed.  Part of it is an elk calving ground.  Part of it is open to the public through the trailhead at the west entrance of Keene Ranch.  Residents have access to large meadows, mountains, forests, and rocky areas on foot, mountain bike, or horseback.  There are more than 60 horse jumps and great wildlife viewing in Dawson Butte.

Keene Ranch Homeowners Association -

The annual fee for HLA is $200.  The organization helps maintain the community, molded trails, and deal with Covenants and Restrictions.  Up to four equine (large or miniature horses, donkeys, and mules) are permitted on each lot.  Most other communities have central equestrian facilities instead.  Current lots may not be further subdivided and residents may have up to three buildings such as a main house, guest house, and barn.  There are monthly meetings that residents are welcome to attend.

Castle Rock

Castle Rock is a full-service community of 50,000 residents located midway between Denver and Colorado Springs, Colorado.  It is the county seat of Douglas County.  Keene Ranch is located outside of the town limits, so property taxes and sales taxes are not collected by the city; however Castle Rock provides conveniences and activities.  Major shopping areas include Park Meadows Shopping District and the Outlets at Castle Rock. 

The highly acclaimed city was recently honored as a Top 15 Towns in the Nation to Raise Family, as Top Towns in America, and Healthiest Populations in the nation.


The highly accredited Douglas County Schools serve families living in Keene Ranch at Clear Sky Elementary School, Castle Rock Middle School, and Castle View High School.  The schools are located 10-15 minutes north.  There are also alternative schools and charter schools.


Take Interstate 25 and exit on Tomah Drive.  Proceed two miles to the west.  Entrance is on the right.
